Watch Your Step
Pride must come before a fall.
So says the poet, so say we all.
Fortune comes to those who heed
The wise man's words, the sage's creed.
One may wear a joyful face,
But facades mean nothing in this place.
Dark is your soul, dark is your mind;
You've left any pretense of light behind.
You are blind to the damage your war has done.
All you see are the glories of battles won.
You claim knowledge beyond your years,
Yet I've stood before things that would put you in tears.
So says the poet, so say we all.

A Bit of Doggerel
I am filling up space
So these pages will count.
Although to nothing
These lines will amount.
I'm literally making this
Up as I go.
So these pages will count.
Although to nothing
These lines will amount.
I'm literally making this
Up as I go.
Enforced Acceptance
Black or white, we're all the same
When the world around is engulfed in flame.
Nothing encourages us to accept
Others more than the threat of imminent death.
When the world around is engulfed in flame.
Nothing encourages us to accept
Others more than the threat of imminent death.
Make it Stop
I see the world through wine bottle glasses.
My life's in the bottom of a tankard of ale.
I drown my worries in poison,
And wake up far from hearty and hale.
So far, all I've done with my life
Is dull the senses, numb the pain
'Til it goes from a well-honed blade to a knife
Made blunt from one too many uses.
Sleep sharpens it again, like a chef
Dragging the whetstone across the metal.
Until I dull it once more.
My life's in the bottom of a tankard of ale.
I drown my worries in poison,
And wake up far from hearty and hale.

My Home
There is no room on Earth,
So my roots are in the sky.
The white aerated soil
Of the clouds is where I lie.
I grow quickly in the sunlight.
I am warm from light above.
From the cloud I draw my strength,
And from the moon I draw my love.
From the stars I take my instinct;
They guide me day by day.
From you I have the blessing
To do things my own way.
So my roots are in the sky.
The white aerated soil
Of the clouds is where I lie.
I grow quickly in the sunlight.
I am warm from light above.
From the cloud I draw my strength,
And from the moon I draw my love.

Skeletons in the Closet
There is darkness in my mind.
That which must not be exposed
To light.
To do so would be to create
An entity composed
Of malicious thoughts, blind
And deaf to prayers
And pleas
And on-my-knees.
Attention paid
Only when blade
Draws screaming, crying.
Satisfying
Thirst for blood-
Liquid proof
Of retribution.
Stays aloof
In execution,
Emotions encased
In carapace
Stained sanguine from
The mess it makes,
The lives it takes,
The wills it breaks.
Not stopping at corporeal,
But murders so entirely
That naught is left
But gaping cleft.
No soul remains
To live again.
It will not cease;
We have no peace
Of mind.
That which must not be exposed
To light.
To do so would be to create
An entity composed
Of malicious thoughts, blind
And deaf to prayers
And pleas
And on-my-knees.

Je Me Souviens
Promises that were not kept,
Nighttimes that I have not slept,
All the tears I have not wept
When sadness builds insde;
When he's not by my side.
All the laughs that were not shared,
All the signs to show we cared.
Doing things we never dared
To do before we met.
Things I'll not forget.
I learned to appreciate rainy days,
To see colour in all the blacks and greys.
I learned to express myself in ways
I never had before.
It was he who opened the door.
Now we are farther apart than ever,
But one of his lessons will last forever:
That there is no such thing as ever
Being truly apart,
For he is always in my heart.
One day we'll be reunited,
Two wronged souls are finally righted.
But the flame had just been reignited;
Our tale has just begun.
Who knows how long it will run?
Nighttimes that I have not slept,
All the tears I have not wept
When sadness builds insde;
When he's not by my side.
All the laughs that were not shared,
All the signs to show we cared.
Doing things we never dared

DOOOOOOOMMMMMMM
Not all jests end in laughter,
Not all tales end in "Happily Ever After"
Some happy days must end in tears,
Not everyone can face their fears.
Clear waters can't stay unobscured.
Not every illness can be cured.
We all must take that final breath,
All touched by the icy hand of Death.
As the hourglass runs out of sand,
Life and Death walk hand in hand.

Inverses
For every good, there is a bad.
With every happy comes a sad.
Yet this works the other way;
From every night is born a day.
With every happy comes a sad.
Yet this works the other way;
From every night is born a day.
??
Quite disoriented.
Dizzy, don't know why.
I bid you a fond farewell.
My consciousness has said good-bye.

Faerie Time
There once was a pony taking a stroll
Through a field of wheat.
He walked, pondering, 'till he came upon
A patch of clover sweet.
He thought, "The gods must be with me,
For never before have I seen
A field as gold as my coat
Surrounding a sea of green!"
He touched his muzzle to the suspicious vegetation
And drew in a tentative breath,
Believing an ill-meaning demon
Was luring him to his death.
Suddenly, he sneezed,
Then started in surprise;
For a sprite clothed in iridescent fabrics
Floated before his eyes!
Through a field of wheat.
He walked, pondering, 'till he came upon
A patch of clover sweet.
He thought, "The gods must be with me,

Too Many
I have pages, lines, and rows
Of doggerels, rhymes, and prose.
Will I organise? No-one knows...

Beware
I send a letter of warning
To whom it may concern:
Before you is great danger.
Of it's nature, you shall soon learn.

Limerick (n.)
A limerick is a type of prose,
Where lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme at the close.
The fourth and the third
Have their own rhyming word
And are shorter than the other three rows.

Raven's Call to Action
Eagle and Falcon, take wing!
Notify Robin to sing.
You must alert Kite;
Tell her to take flight,
For Hawk has called a meeting!

Pet Store
My name is Mikey the goat.
I am, and I don't mean to gloat,
The very best pet
That you've ever met!
To you, I shall devote.

Literature
Stories of every culture,
Covers of every hue,
Tales that go from you to me,
And me to you.

Joy
Take a walk in a garden,
And you'll see magnificent things.
Go for a stroll in the garden,
To know what joy it brings.

Lightbulb, oh lightbulb,
Shed down your great light.Lightbulb, oh lightbulb,

Tooth Fees
A note to the Tooth Fairy
(If you are real);
I drive a hard bargain,
But we'll work out a deal.

Rhyming Currency
Penny, nickel, quarter, dime,
It;s not very easy to find a rhyme.
Penny, quarter, dime, nickel,
If I don't, I'll be in a pickle.
Quarter, dime, nickel, penny,
If I think hard enough, I'm sure I'll come up with many.
Penny,nickel, dime, quarter,
I have to do it soon, my time is getting shorter.

Clingy Happiness
Stickers with a smiley face,
I see you plastered all over the place.

Storybook Life
Oh, small little pathway
To a world of imagination.
All around the library
You are a great sensation.
In gold-leaf that glints,
You wear a crown.
With your clothes in mint,
Olive, lilac, and brown.
Creating you
Is such a pleasure,
For always, it's true,
There's some kind of treasure.
When I come to your end,
There will always be tears.
Like the death of a friend,
I've lost one of my peers.
To a world of imagination.

Best Friends
Constant use of profanity,
Questionable sanity.
Telling dirty jokes you don't understand,
Touch their stuff, they'll break your hand.
We all have that certain friend,
But we will love them 'till the end.

Writer's Block
I don't know how to get it out of my head,
So my poetry skills are temporarily dead.
